40 Million Chinese iPhones →
Josh Ong at AppleInsider:
Investment bank Morgan Stanley believes Apple will partner up with both China Telecom and China Mobile “over the next year” to make its iPhone available on all three Chinese carriers, a move that could bring incremental sales of as many as 40 million units next calendar year.
Here’s some context about how big this could be: 40 million iPhones would be more than half the amount of iPhones Apple sold in the 2011 fiscal year or almost four times the amount of iPhones Verizon sold last year.
Those projections are for 2013 and the data the Morgan Stanley analyst used for comparables is from October of 2011, before the iPhone 4S came out. It already sounds too low to me.
